Ex-MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy of the Dhuri Congress disputes the selection criterion

Days after the Congress nominated Sukhpal Khaira, a sitting MLA from Sangrur in Bholath, former MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy of Dhuri questioned the selection method on Tuesday.

Reiterating his commitment to the party, Goldy, a candidate for the Sangrur seat, asked what the standards were for evaluating a large or small leader on his Facebook page. Speaking about bringing Sukhpal Khaira to Sangrur, he said that even if the party candidate had not chosen him, he would work enthusiastically with him.

“When I was put up against Chief Minister Bhagwan Mann in the 2022 Assembly election, I wasn’t needed to be a huge face. I was invited to run in the parliamentary byelections for Sangrur. I received a ticket guarantee for the 2024 election. But as a devoted soldier, I submit to the party’s choice. “I don’t belong to the group of people who would abandon a party when they see a chance,” he said.

When making such judgments, the party should not keep committed warriors in the dark, the former MLA warned.

Goldy’s remarks came after party leaders protested over the decision to run Dr Dharamvira Gandhi from Patiala. On April 20, party members were summoned by former Rajpura MLA Hardyal Kamboj, who was a candidate for the Patiala seat. At their recent meeting with the senior party leaders in Delhi, he and other leaders voiced their displeasure with the name of Dr. Gandhi. Along with other officials, Bathinda’s Kusbaz Jattna is said to have voiced disapproval of foreigners joining the party. Additionally, current Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary has revolted against Charanjit Singh Channi, the previous chief minister.
