Faridabad: BJP leader avoids campaigning after being displeased with party MPs’ “poor” performance

Following his announcement that he would no longer be supporting governing BJP candidate Krishan Pal Gurjar in the elections, veteran politician and former MLA Tek Chand Sharma suffered a setback. This is the first instance of dissension inside the governing party, which initiated the campaign and announced its candidate in the Faridabad Lok Sabha constituency.

Sharma, the state chief of the party’s “Namami-Yamuna” cell, claimed that his efforts and support had been disregarded and ignored. He stated, “Among the reasons, I have decided to alienate myself from the campaign are the poor performance of BJP leaders in the past two terms and resentment against them among the masses.”

“I’m tired of some politicians’ prejudiced attitudes and polarizing practices. I have been working for the party despite my assertion that my Assembly ticket was disregarded in 2019,” he said, adding that he was not worried about being kicked out of the organization. “In the event that the BJP denies me a ticket, I have chosen to run as an Independent candidate in the upcoming Assembly elections,” he said.

He accused the municipal body and other levels of corruption, saying that this is why the Metro train projects to Palwal and Gurugram have not progressed. He said that despite widespread protests, the demand for an access point at the villages of Mohna and Mandkola to the Jewar airport Expressway and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, respectively, had remained unfulfilled. He said, “The BJP government’s tall claims are exposed by the failure to complete the Yamuna River bridge that connects Faridabad with Greater Noida in the last ten years and by the lack of any new project to create more jobs.”

It should be noted that farmers and residents of about 48 villages in the Palwal and Faridabad districts are requesting an access point to the Greenfield expressway that connects the two airports at Mohna village. As a result of the ruling party’s inability to address the issue, these residents have already threatened to boycott its leaders and representatives.

Sharma, who supported the BJP administration in the state from 2014 to 2019 and was elected as an MLA from the Prithla Assembly seat on a BSP ticket in 2014, joined the BJP in 2019.
