Flight Operations In Delhi, Hyderabad Affected By Dense Fog, Notifying Passengers

New Delhi: Today’s heavy fog reduced visibility to zero in some areas of the nation’s capital, impacting flight operations at Delhi Airport. For flight updates, passengers are recommended to get in touch with their individual carriers.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Delhi stated that the temperature dropped to 9.4 degrees Celsius. The visibility dropped to only 125 meters in certain areas of the city, severely disrupting everyday life. The majority of the dense fog fell over the National Capital Region (NCR), making visibility in most places difficult.

Residents of the nation’s capital have taken refuge in night shelters located across the city as the bitter cold continues to encircle it. In other localities, people gathered around fires in the Lodhi Road vicinity to get relief from the bitter cold.

Images taken from strategic points around AIIMS, including Lodhi Road, Munirka, RK Puram, and Ring Road, showed a thick fog layer covering the area.

On Monday, the national capital’s air quality was still classified as “very poor.” The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported that the Air Quality Index (AQI) was centered at 400.

Southern India also experienced disruptions to aircraft operations, with Vistara notifying the diversion of many planes. The fog has caused the route of six planes from Hyderabad to Delhi to be rerouted.

Due to unfavorable weather at Hyderabad airport, flight UK897, which was initially supposed to depart from Bangalore and go to Hyderabad, has been rerouted back to Bangalore. In a similar vein, adverse weather has also been experienced by Flight UK873, which left Mumbai for Hyderabad.
