Bibhav Kumar, the personal secretary of Arvind Kejriwal, was fired by the Vigilance Department. Here’s Why

Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant (PA) of incarcerated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was fired by the Directorate of Vigilance (DoV) on Wednesday. It is said that a case involving an attack on a public worker led to the termination of his employment.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Kumar earlier this week as part of a money laundering investigation into anomalies in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Durgesh Pathak, the MLA for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was summoned by the inquiry agency to appear in office and was questioned about the matter alongside him.

Bibhav Kumar, a senior assistant of Kejriwal, has been linked to the chief minister of Delhi since the 2011 India Against Corruption (IAC) campaign, a civil action that arose in response to corruption allegations that revealed under the UPA administration. An additional person on the ED’s radar in relation to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) bribery investigation is Bibhav Kumar.

Tuesday saw the Delhi High Court dismiss Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against his ED detention in relation to the tax policy issue. Given that the Delhi Chief Minister had “repeatedly ignored” the ED’s summons in the money laundering case, the Delhi court said. The agency has sufficient evidence against the Delhi Chief Minister, the court further said.

Subsequently, the AAP head petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the Delhi High Court’s decision to dismiss the case. Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for an immediate hearing was refused by the highest court, which instead said it will “look into the case” and provide a date shortly.

On March 21, Arvind Kejriwal was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). His noncompliance with nine summonses issued by the central agency resulted in his detention. The Delhi Chief Minister is being held in judicial custody at Tihar prison till April 15.

On Wednesday, Arvind Kejriwal said that he is prepared to put up with all the horrors of the “dictator government” in a statement made via his wife Sunita. Prominent AAP figures who gathered to meet with Delhi Chief Minister Gopal Rai, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh, and AAP members Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sandeep Pathak conveyed the message.
