Get approval for cars participating in road shows, following DEO orders

On Friday, political parties were advised by District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney, Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal, and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi to make sure that prior permission is obtained from the vehicles utilized for road shows.

The DEO, who was presiding over a meeting with the political parties at Bachat Bhawan here, said that in order to guarantee road safety, convoys of cars in road displays need to leave a space of 100 meters after every 10 vehicles. She added that the static and aerial surveillance teams would keep an eye on their actions and that any infraction would result in harsh punishment.

She also warned political parties to avoid holding their campaigns at places of worship. Should their candidate be seen doing obeisance while wearing party emblems or slogans, it would be deemed a breach of the model code of conduct.
