Government Releases Rs. 1,580 Cr To Various Development Authorities For Land Acquisition In New Township, Uttar Pradesh

In order to purchase land for the construction of new townships in the city, the Uttar Pradesh government granted Rs 1,580 crore to the Housing Development Council and other development agencies. The Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme seeks to support the methodical and well-planned growth of urban areas while offering residential amenities to the urban populace.

 

The UP Housing Development Council and Varanasi Development Authority received the maximum amount of Rs 400 crore each under the scheme, followed by Meerut, Moradabad, and Kanpur Development Authority with Rs 200 crore each, according to an order issued by Nitin Ramesh Gokarn, Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing and Urban Planning Department.

The New Kanpur City Scheme received Rs 150 crore of the Rs 200 crore sanctioned to the Kanpur Development Authority, while the Bingawan Housing Scheme received Rs 50 crore. Meanwhile, new township development in the cities was funded by the Agra Development Authority with Rs 150 crore and the Ayodhya Development Authority with Rs 30 crore.

The state government may use up to 50% of the cost of land purchase as seed capital under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion, which went into effect last year, for a maximum of 20 years.
