A bombing on the campus of Manipur University left one person killed and another wounded

A bomb went off in the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) office in the Imphal West area of Dhanamanjuri (DM) University, killing one and injuring another.

Two persons were hurt when an unidentified group of miscreants detonated a powerful explosive near the eastern side of the AMSU headquarters on Friday at around 9:25 p.m. Oinam Kenegy, 24, passed away from his wounds after they were sent to the city hospital for treatment.

Salam Michael, 24, is receiving therapy at this time. A police squad raced to the scene after the explosion to assess the damage.

Since authorities have not yet identified the attackers, further investigation is now under progress.

Notably, a disagreement has resulted in prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC being placed on the explosion site as of September 10, 2022.
