Gurugram: “Get discounts in multiplexes by casting your ballot on May 25 and flashing your inked finger.”

May 9, Gurugram In addition to providing free refreshments, the Gurugram district administration has devised a novel plan to boost voter turnout in the Gurgaon Parliamentary constituency’s May 25 Lok Sabha polls. Officials have announced discounts on movie tickets and food items in multiplexes.

On May 25, there will be a single-phase election for each of Haryana’s ten Lok Sabha seats.

According to an official on Wednesday, all it takes to get a discount on offline tickets purchased at the counter or on food and beverages served inside the movie theater is to show off one’s tattooed finger on election day.

In this context, Hitesh Kumar Meena, ADC and nodal officer for the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, Gurugram, presided over a meeting of representatives from multiplex chains on Wednesday.

Meena informed the journalists, “The voters will also get complimentary refreshments in certain multiplexes.”

He announced that short videos on voter awareness will be shown on the screens at all the multiplexes, along with a message from the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav.

In an effort to increase voter participation, the Gurugam district government has enlisted Indian cricket player Yuzvendra Chahal as a “brand ambassador.”
