Hyderabad: A case involving abduction and extortion names Tahsildar as an accused

In a 2023 abduction and extortion case, Talakondapally Tahsildar Katta Venkata Ranga Reddy has been identified as the eleventh offender. He and the other two accused received a warning from the Mokila police around a week ago.

According to the police notice, the second accused’s confession, witness accounts, and call detail records verified their prima facie findings that the tahsildar could be connected to the crime.

A man named Srinivas Raju was abducted by a group in Kondakal village, and Venkata Ranga Reddy is suspected of being engaged in his extortion.

In Chandradhana village, there are fifty acres owned by Srinivas Raju. He also own numerous acres of property in other places, according to the police.

He was allegedly abducted on November 15, 2023, by a group of people headed by Suryanarayana Raju. The group allegedly brought him to the Tahsildar’s office a day after kidnapping him and threatened him by registering 30 acres of his property in their names without authorization.

According to the police, “the Tahsildar registered thirty acres of Srinivas’ land in Suryanarayana’s name without verifying the necessary paperwork.” He is said to have benefited financially in exchange.

The Hyderabad Commissionerate’s Assistant Commissioner of Police is purportedly connected to the crime, the police further said. There are reports that the ACP assisted in Srinivas Raju’s abduction. The inquiry team, however, declined to verify any more information on the senior officer.

Thirteen persons have been designated as suspects by the police in the abduction and extortion investigation so far. There are rumors that the lawsuit may include further parties.

The Mokila police had only cited IPC Section 363 in the First Information Report (FIR) when the case was first filed on November 15, 2023, regarding allegations of abduction. But after further research, they also added extortion accusations and IPC Sections 365, 386, 327, and 120-B r/w 149. There is now more research being done.

“Ranga Reddy registered thirty acres without doing any research.”

According to authorities, Tahsildar Ranga Reddy registered thirty acres of Srinivas’ property in Suryanarayana’s name without first examining the necessary verification paperwork.
