Due to the Chhath holiday, AAP wants the Election Commission to delay the Chhattisgarh assembly election

In order to accommodate the Chhath Puja holiday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) asking that the date of the second round of the Chhattisgarh assembly elections be changed.

In a letter to the ECI, the AAP suggested moving forward the date of the second round of voting from November 17 to November 25.

“We all know that Chhattisgarh is home to individuals from all over the country, particularly from the northern part of the country. November 17, 18, and 19 are the dates of Chhath Puja, the largest festival of devotion in North India. During that period, people return to their homes. As a consequence, less people would vote, according to Chhattisgarh AAP in-charge Sanjeev Jha’s interview with ANI.

“We wrote to the EC the very next day after the polling locations were announced so that an increasing number of people could cast ballots. A revision in the election dates has also been requested by other parties, such as the BJP and the Congress, Jha said.

The third list of candidates for the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election was unveiled by the AAP on Thursday.

Dr. Akash Jashwal, Chandrakant Diksena, Manbhajan Tandon, Deepak Patre, Durgalal Kewat (Nishad), Lekh Ram Saahu, Jashwant Sinha, Sanjeet Vishwakarma, Chameli Kurrey, Jagmohan Baghel, and Narendra Bhawani are the 11 candidates the party has put forth.

Two stages will be used to conduct the 90-member Assembly of Chhattisgarh elections.

According to the election commission, the first round of voting for 20 seats will take place on November 7 and the last 70 seats will be decided on November 17.

On December 3, all states will conduct the vote tallying.

Of the five states, Chhattisgarh will have two rounds of voting. With the release of the election dates, the Model Code of Conduct became operative.

Earlier, during the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 68 out of 90 seats, defeating the BJP, which was in power at the time and had only won 15 seats.
