Hyderabad: Locals Say ‘Complaints Made Were Unheard’ After A Toddler Was Killed By Stray Dogs

Deepali, a 2.5-year-old child, passed away on Friday after her mauling by two stray dogs. Deepali and her sister were playing outside their parent’s building site in Gayatri Nagar, Hyderabad, when the regrettable incident occurred. The police verified that Deepali passed away from her injuries later that night, despite being transported to the hospital.

Thankfully, bystanders intervened and chased off the hostile canines, allowing Deepali’s older sister to escape safely, according to TOI. The family moved to Hyderabad five months ago from Chhattisgarh in quest of a better future. Both parents are employed full-time. The issue of stray dogs has disturbed the locals, but they are angry that their concerns to the local government have gone unanswered. Residents voiced their displeasure, stating that their concerns had been sent to municipal authorities by the police.

In other developments, a four-year-old child from a nomadic family died on Saturday in an incident in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, after being mauled by stray dogs. The girl’s disfigured corpse was taken into the custody of the police and submitted for postmortem analysis.

SHO Vedprakash Sharma said that the event happened close to the Amethi Mata Temple and was within the Kotwali police station’s jurisdiction. For many months, Shankar and his family had been living in a temporary shelter close to the temple.
Saturday morning, the stray dogs mauled Shankar’s daughter as she followed them as Shankar and other family members went out begging or looking for jobs. The girl tried to chase the dogs away, but she ended up being seriously hurt and dying there.

The SHO acknowledged that the police are responding to this occurrence by taking the appropriate action.

The threat posed by stray dogs has long plagued the locals, but their protests to the local government are said to have gone unanswered. These issues have been noted by the police, who have passed them along to the local authorities for follow-up.
