In one month, Karnal police arrest 48 POs and 71 bail-jumpers

In advance of the Lok Sabha elections, the Karnal police detained 71 bail-jumpers and 48 proclaimed criminals (POs) between March 16 and April 15.

During this time, they also found 48 opium plants, 446g pills and capsules, 8,846.05L of lahan, 1.591kg of charas, 18.173kg of ganja pati, 49g of smack, 1.443kg of opium, four illegal firearms, two knives, four live cartridges, and liquor produced in the nation. According to SP Deepak Saharan, there have been 27 FIRs filed, which have resulted in the arrest of 41 individuals. They have also executed 294 non-bailable orders.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, police have increased their presence at checkpoints and along the Uttar Pradesh border. “There are now more police officers in the area overall. To stop any suspicious activity, vehicles are being extensively scrutinized, according to the SP.

The SP asked people to follow the Election Commission of India’s (EC) instructions and not break the model code of conduct. He sent out a warning to anybody trying to sway votes by threats, bribes, or any other strategy.

Additionally, a telephone number (9729990750) has been provided by the Karnal police for the public to provide pertinent information.

“We are closely examining hotel, inn, and guesthouse records to look for any questionable activity,” he said.

According to SP, 6,179 of the 12,118 people with firearm licenses have already turned in their guns. He urged everyone who hasn’t done so to do so right now or risk legal action.
