Bengal BJP President Majumdar: “ED should properly investigate TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in corruption matters”

Sukanta Majumdar, the president of the West Bengal BJP, said on Friday that the Enforcement Directorate has to undertake a thorough probe since it is unable to find TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s bank accounts.

Sukanta Majumdar told ANI that Abhishek Banerjee has been called. ED will summon him since his name keeps popping up in corruption-related cases.Anytime they want, ED will summon him, and he must go. ED needs to carry out a thorough inquiry. They can’t find his financial accounts, either.

The chief of the Bengal BJP said that the ED should investigate where Abhishek Banerjee could be hiding money and if he has any overseas bank accounts.

“Abhishek Banerjee often travels abroad, including to Dubai, America, etc. ED needs to check to see whether he has any overseas financial accounts. This direction should be taken for further inquiry, he said.

Abhishek Banerjee, general secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), previously poked fun at the federal government after being called in by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 3, the same day the TMC is planning to stage a demonstration in Delhi over unpaid debts to the federal government.

Abhishek Banerjee poked fun at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led federal government by posting the draft of the summons from his personal account on ‘X’, claiming that it indicates individuals who have been “truly perturbED, rattlED, and scarED!”

In connection with the suspected teacher recruitment fraud, Banerjee had already been subpoenaed by the ED in September. The inaugural Coordination Committee meeting of the opposition INDIA alliance was place in Delhi on the same day. Due to his summons from the ED’s Kolkata office, Abhishek, a member of the INDIA Coordination Committee, was forced to miss the meeting.

Banerjee said after his previous interrogation, “I have done my duty, I have come to the ED office, joined the investigation, faced the questions, and answered to the best of my abilities to the questions that were asked to me.”

Banerjee was served with a summons a few weeks after federal investigators raided the office of “Leaps and Bounds Pvt Ltd,” which they said was “used for making dubious transactions amounting to crores of rupees.” Banerjee is allegedly the company’s CEO, according to the ED.
