In only two weeks, Parwanoo recorded more than 500 episodes of diarrhea

The industrial town of Parwanoo has recorded about 500 instances of diarrhea since April 11.

“In the past two days, twenty-six new cases per day have been detected, although the number has slightly decreased,” said Dr. Amit Ranjan, Medical Officer Health (MoH), Solan.

In the impacted region, authorized social health activists were distributing chlorine tablets.

In addition to receiving medical attention at the ESI hospital, the patients received oral rehydration solutions. The MOH said that residents have been advised to consume boiling water and wash their hands both before and after urinating.

While some instances were found in Solan Town as well, they belonged to the typical number of patients who seek care from different areas at different times of the year.

Following April 11, Parwanoo had an abrupt increase in cases, and since then, at least 20 patients have shown up on average in the outside patient department. However, since the illness was stopped in its early stages, there weren’t many admissions, and up until this point, there had been no cases of referral to a more advanced medical facility.

To guarantee that water pollution can be investigated, employees of the Jal Shakti Department and the Himachal Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) have been instructed to collaborate and exchange reports.

“Once the source has been cleaned and chlorinated, more water is being sampled. Water samples were taken from the inlet and exit of a pump house at Sector 5 in regions like Uccha Parwanoo, and pollution of the water was discovered while test findings were still pending. Dr. Ranjan said, “HIMUDA authorities have been informed of the findings and instructed to take corrective action.

After the Governor visited Parwanoo and assessed the situation, the district administration began to keep an eye on things as well.
