Kharge Slams Government for Price Rise, Joblessness

Taking aim at the Modi administration on Wednesday for increasing prices and unemployment, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge predicted that voters will reject the BJP’s “hollow slogans” and toss it out of office this time.

His assault came a day after the Congress criticized the Centre for the growing costs of vegetables and other basic food products and urged that his administration take quick action to solve the problem.

“The Modi government’s plunder is to blame for the ongoing rise in both inflation and unemployment. But the BJP is consumed by its desire for power, Kharge said in a Hindi tweet. According to him, vegetable costs are increasing and the nation’s jobless rate has increased to 8.45%.

The desire for MGNREGA is at an all-time high in villages, where the unemployment rate is 8.73 percent, yet there is no job, according to Kharge.

He also said that wages in rural areas had decreased.

“Narendra Modi ji, the people of this nation are aware that you are developing campaign slogans like “achche din” and “amrit kaal” in order to use marketing to obscure your shortcomings. The people is informed and will reject your empty statements by voting against the BJP, therefore it won’t happen this time, the Congress head said.

Kharge said, “Leave alone forgiving, the public will drive the BJP from power.”

The party’s female wing protested outside the BJP headquarters in this city on Tuesday, calling for relief from the growing cost of basic food products.

Speaking at a news conference where the party had a basket of tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and green chilies, Congress spokeswoman Supriya Shrinate said that it could be a good idea to present this as a gift given that it costs more than Rs 1,070 due to growing inflation.
