Ladakh and J&K talk on asset and liability division

On Friday, there was a conference to discuss outstanding concerns related to the division of resources, obligations, and labor between the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Atal Dulloo, the chief secretary of J&K, chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu. Pawan Kotwal, the adviser to the Ladakh L-G, also attended the meeting to review and discuss important problems.

The conference included extensive talks on a number of important topics, such as the assignment of officers to cover crucial positions, the transfer of corporate jobs, and the conclusion of existing projects overseen by J&K agencies in Ladakh.

The transfer of priceless cultural assets, including paintings, artifacts, and historical documents, as well as the transfer of J&K Sports Council properties that have been allocated to Ladakh, were other topics of discussion at the meeting.

Since Ladakh became a distinct UT in 2019 after being split off from J&K, these gatherings have continued.

A significant item on the agenda that was discussed during the meeting was the addition of Ladakh-apportioned personnel to the seniority lists of the corresponding J&K departments, with effect from November 15, 2021. In order to guarantee fair treatment and representation for every employee in Ladakh and J&K, this step is essential.

The dedication to infrastructure development and regional prosperity was further shown by talks about the distribution of land for the building of Kargil Saria at Sonamarg.

According to an official, “the meeting demonstrated how crucial it is for the two UTs to work together to efficiently resolve outstanding issues and expedite administrative procedures.” Both the Chief Secretary of J&K and the Advisor for Ladakh expressed confidence in the meeting’s results and promised to keep working to ensure a seamless transition and efficient operation of both UTs.

Kotwal said that the continuing process of administrative consolidation and integration represented a major advancement, marked by a hard effort.
