Azam Khan is sentenced to seven years in prison for demolishing a property

Azam Khan, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), was fined Rs. 8 lakh and given a seven-year jail term by a court here on Monday for forcibly demolishing a home in Dungarpur in 2016.

According to senior prosecution officer Amarnath Tiwari, the MP-MLA court also fined each of the other three parties in the case Rs 2.5 lakh and sentenced them to five years in jail. Azam Khan, a former minister from Uttar Pradesh; Azhar Ahmed Khan, a former municipal corporation chairman; Ale Hasan, a former police circle officer; and Barkat Ali were all found guilty by Judge Vijay Kumar’s court.

According to Tiwari, the court cleared Jibran, Farman, and Omendra Chauhan, the other three suspects.

In 2019, Azam Khan was one of seven people charged with the forced destruction of the home that occurred in 2016, under the SP’s rule in Uttar Pradesh. According to Tiwari, the complaint was filed at the Ganj police station in Rampur. In connection with a different criminal case, Azam Khan, 75, is now incarcerated in Sitapur.
