Maharashtra: A business in the Thane district found beef; two people were detained

In the Thane district of Maharashtra, the police confiscated 300 kg of beef from a store and detained two people for unauthorized stockpiling of the prohibited meat, an official said on Friday, as PTI reported.

In the Thane area, beef valued at Rs 67,000 was found.

Sub-inspector Sahebrao Gaikwad said that during the police inspection of the business in Bhiwandi town on Thursday, they found meat valued at Rs 67,000 kept on the premises, as reported by PTI.

He stated the accused had killed a cow and sold the flesh.

According to the official, a complaint has been filed against the couple under the applicable sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Indian Penal Code, as reported by PTI.

According to an officer quoted in the PTI, the Thane Police in Maharashtra confiscated gutka valued at around Rs 50 lakh from a truck earlier this month and detained the driver.

The PTI claims that because to health concerns, the government has outlawed the production, distribution, and sale of gutka throughout the state.

According to the PTI, the Narpoli police stopped a truck on Dapoda Road in the Bhiwandi region on Thursday afternoon. Inside, they discovered gutka of many brands, valued at around Rs 50 lakh in total.

According to him, the driver, Ajaykumar Shaympal Singh (28), was detained and the package and vehicle were confiscated. He further said that efforts are being made to determine the consignment’s origin and destination.
