Malerkotla: Police seize properties belonging to peddlers for Rs 1.78 crore

Malerkotla police said that they had continued their previous efforts to tackle the drug problem in the area by attaching the movable and immovable assets of three drug dealers who were charged in three different NDPS Act cases in previous years.

The properties assessed by the Delhi authorities for attachment have a combined worth of Rs 1,78,77,000. Up to eight further instances have been selected for the attachment of assets valued at crores.

SSP Simrat Kaur of Malerkotla said that following clearance from appropriate authorities in Delhi, police officers under the direction of SP (I) Vaibhav Sehgal and DSP Gurdev Singh had seized both moveable and immovable properties belonging to Khushi Mohammad of Chamrian Wala Khoo Malerkotla, Mohammad Nazir of Abbaspura village, and Mohammad Sehbaz off Jamalpura.

According to the SSP, these properties, which are estimated to be valued at Rs 1,78,77,000, were built in 2021–2023, and the procedures for attaching further properties in other situations have almost been finished.

According to the police, the owners and occupants of the confiscated properties have been formally notified of the orders stating that these properties cannot be sold or transferred without the investigative team at the Malerkotla city-1 police station’s consent. Without a doubt, the investigating police noted that the unlawful money obtained from drug trafficking was used to purchase and build the aforementioned houses.
