Mamata Criticises ED Raid On TN Minister as “Desperate Acts By BJP”

On Tuesday, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, denounced the searches by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Minister V Senthil Balaji of Tamil Nadu, stating that they were the result of a political vendetta by the BJP.

According to authorities, the ED investigated locations connected to Balaji and a few other individuals as part of a money laundering probe.

“I denounce the BJP’s political vengeance against the DMK today. Central agencies are still being mishandled. It is intolerable that the ED conducted searches at the Minister for Prohibition and Excise’s office, the state secretariat, and his official house in Tamil Nadu. BJP’s desperate actions, she tweeted.

Among the places the ED searched was the minister’s office in the Tamil Nadu Secretariat in Chennai.

Interestingly, top TMC lawmaker Abhishek Banerjee, the chief minister’s nephew, skipped interrogation in relation to the school employment scandal and did not appear before the ED earlier in the day. He mentioned the panchayat elections in West Bengal as his excuse for missing the opportunity to appear before the central investigators.
