“Matter of Pride”: Shinde laments Shivaji Maharaj’s statue’s unveiling at Kupawara, J&K

A monument of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was unveiled in the Kupwara area of Jammu and Kashmir, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed satisfaction in the event.

The monument is located in Kashmir’s Kupwara area at 41 National Rifle (Maratha LI), close to the Pakistani and Indian borders.

“It is a proud thing for the country that a magnificent equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be unveiled near the India-Pakistan border (in the Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir) on November 7,” Shinde said in an interview with news agency ANI. I am really grateful for the opportunity to participate in this event,” Eknath Shinde said on Monday.

Shinde met with Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, at the Raj Bhavan on Monday.

Sudhir Mungantiwar, the Minister of Forests, Cultural Affairs, and Fisheries for Maharashtra, was present at the conference. Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, will preside over the statue’s unveiling.

Minister of Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar will be present at the function.

At Mumbai Raj Bhavan, the equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was ceremoniously welcomed on October 20, 2023, amidst drumbeats and cries of Jai Bhawani Jai Shivaji.

Following their permission, Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Minister of Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar led the monument to Kupwara.

After starting in Maharashtra and traveling over 2,200 kilometers, the monument arrived at Kupwara after a week. It was commemorated with ceremonies at historical landmarks in important cities along the way.

Manoj Sinha, the deputy governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Sudhir Mungantiwar, the minister of cultural affairs for Maharashtra, and other distinguished visitors will be present at the unveiling event.
