Mukhtar Ansari’s Demise: Remains of Uttar Pradesh’s Gangster Conveyed to Ghazipur for Final Rites; Vigilance Increased Around His Dwelling

The mortal remains of Mukhtar Ansari, the former gangster-turned-politician who succumbed to cardiac arrest, were conveyed to his residence in Ghazipur for the final rites amid a heavy police presence orchestrated by the district administration. Sibgatullah Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari’s elder brother, declared that the last rites would be conducted on Saturday.

“We received the body after some delay, so the last rites cannot be performed tonight. It will be done tomorrow morning. I request everybody to pray for him,” Sibgatullah Ansari told news agency ANI on Friday.

Hospital sources confirmed that the post-mortem examination on Mukhtar Ansari corroborated his cause of death as cardiac arrest. However, his family has alleged that he succumbed to “slow poisoning” while in jail. Ansari, a former MLA embroiled in over 60 cases, passed away on Thursday night.

The autopsy was conducted by a panel of five doctors. Umar Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari’s younger son, was present at Rani Durgavati Medical College during the post-mortem. Following the procedure, Mukhtar Ansari’s body was transported in a lengthy convoy of vehicles from Banda to his hometown of Ghazipur.

Police officials stated that Mukhtar Ansari’s son, Umar Ansari, Abbas Ansari’s wife, and two cousins were inside the ambulance carrying the body. Before reaching Ghazipur, the convoy traversed through the districts of Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Kaushambi, and Varanasi.

As preparations are made for his final rites, security has been heightened in Ghazipur and surrounding districts, including Mau. According to the family, his body will be interred at the Kali Bagh graveyard, approximately 0.5 kilometers from the Ansari family’s residence.

“Preparations are underway for the last rites. Everyone will have the opportunity to pay their respects. I urge everyone present here to maintain decorum…” Mohammad Suhaib Ansari, a Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA and nephew of Mukhtar Ansari, stated.
