NCP manifesto: MSP for farmers, caste-based census

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the leading partner in the MahaYuti government in Maharashtra and an ally of the NDA, has called for a census based on caste and a Minimum support price for farmers.

The party said that it would push for the granting of the distinguished Bharat Ratna award to former Chief Minister Yashwantrao Chavan and the restoration of Marathi language status to that of a classical language in its platform for the Lok Sabha elections, which were announced on Monday. In addition, the party is certain that Maharashtra can achieve a $1 trillion GDP under the MahaYuti administration.

Ajit Pawar, the national president of the party, unveiled the manifesto in front of state president Sunil Tatkare, working president Praful Patel, and senior minister Chhagan Bhujbal. It guarantees farmers that the Minimum Support Price will be protected and expands support for it as a right.

The NCP requests an increase in the yearly payout of Rs 12,000—which is given to farmers under the Kisaan Samman Nidhi—which is made up of Rs 6,000 from the central government and Rs 6,000 from the state government. It is in favor of expanding the Agricultural Crop Insurance Scheme’s reach and improving its farmer-friendliness. Additionally, the party suggests working to raise the Mudra Yojana Scheme loan limit from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

According to the NCP, efforts will be made to offer sustainable power sources and boost hydropower, solar, and kinetic energy projects, among other initiatives, to boost agricultural output and revenue while reducing farmers’ reliance on traditional power sources. Additionally, the party suggests expanding the reach of Vishwakarma Yojana to include 12 Balutedar (artisans, craftsmen) courses in a drive to make Maharashtra the epicenter of skill development in India and to foster the growth of enterprises using cutting-edge technology in skill development.

The party intends to raise the monthly salary of educated and talented young from the present Rws 12,000 in the state to Rs 20,000 in private firms on a contractual basis.

It is now required for individuals to honor mothers by using their mother’s name before their father in order to abolish patriarchy. The manifesto states, “NCP resolves to replicate the revolutionary decision at the national level.”

The party says it has always been in their favor to give women a 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

The NCP urges that a stringent rule be implemented to prohibit paper leaks and improve transparency in the recruiting process, in light of recent incidents surrounding paper leaks during different recruitment examinations.

Referring to older persons as the “Silver economy,” the NCP suggests giving those over 60 a 50% nationwide discount on train and metro tickets as well as implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme for those over 70.

The NCP suggests tackling large-scale river-linking and river-purification projects at the federal level. The party states, “We are working to make sure that ambitious projects with a positive impact, like the Krishna-Bhima stabilization, the Nar-Par scheme, and the Western Ghats rainwater diversion to drought-prone areas, are taken up.”

The most rainfall occurs in forested regions. Nevertheless, the Forest Act prohibits the construction of reservoirs in forested regions, which results in summertime drought-like conditions and a lack of water. In order to address this, the NCP requests that the “Birsa Munda Water Conservation Scheme” be implemented and that the current legislation be amended.
