PM Modi emphasizes that your vote is your voice and issues record numbers of polling calls for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections

In the second round of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged voters to cast their ballots in historic numbers, arguing that a high voter participation enhances democracy.

PM Modi urged voters, particularly women and young people, to show up in large numbers at the polls, stating that their vote is their voice.

“I’m pleading with every voter in their constituency to turn out in record numbers for today’s second round of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Our democracy is strengthened by high voter participation. I strongly urge our female and youth voters to cast large ballots. The prime minister said on X, “Your vote is your voice.”

Amit Shah, the union home minister, also urged everyone to use their right to vote and turn out in record numbers in favor of a powerful, safe, and affluent country.

“Today is the second phase of the Lok Sabha Election’s voting day. He said on X, “I’m calling on everyone who is exercising their right to vote today to join me in celebrating democracy by casting a record number of votes for a safe, stable, and prosperous country.”

Shah went on to say “Encourage your friends and family to vote to help build a stronger India.”

“Select a government that places a high priority on the nation’s growth, guards the borders, restores cultural assets, and takes important choices that serve the interests of the whole country. Your each and every vote will help fortify the basis of an advanced India. Encourage your family members and friends to cast their ballots as well,” Shah said in the message.

On Friday, the voting will start at 7 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Votes will be tallied on June 4 after the seven stages of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, which begin on June 1 and end on June 1.

The Election Commission of India reports that 88 seats from 13 states and union territories would compete in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections’ second phase.

With all 20 seats up for election today, Kerala has the most constituencies, followed by Karnataka with 14. Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tripura, and Manipur are among the other states that will hold elections on Friday. Friday will also see voting for the parliamentary seat in Jammu.

There are 1202 contenders in the race, 1098 of them are men and 102 of whom are women.

The electorate that will choose candidates consists of 7.8 crore female and 8.08 crore male voters. In the second round of voting, 5,929 voters who identify as third genders will also exercise their right to vote.

34.8 lakh first-time voters have registered to vote, according to the highest election authority.

“Additionally, there are 3.28 crore young voters in the age group 20-29 years,” it said.More than 14.78 lakh voters who are 85 years of age or older, 42,226 voters who are 100 years of age or older, and 14.7 lakh PwD voters for phase two have been granted the opportunity to cast their ballots from home.
