Police hold 4 after solving a truck robbery case in a matter of hours

On Wednesday night, the municipal police apprehended a group of bandits who had abducted a truck driver and taken off with his vehicle, which was loaded with thirty tons of black chickpeas.

Within 24 hours following the occurrence, the suspects and accused were taken into custody. The people who were taken into custody were named as Gurpreet Singh alias Sajan (21) of Khemkaran (Tarn Taran), Arjan Singh alias Katta (20) of Chabba, Jagjit Singh alias Harman (25), of Vanchardi village, and Sukhdev Singh alias Sonu (24), of Chabba.

Along with a cell phone, the police also found the truck (RJ-07-GB-3265) that had 300 quintals of chickpeas, a vehicle, a Datar, and a sharp-edged weapon that was used in the crime. In this respect, a case under sections 395 and 364-A of the IPC was filed with Sultanwind Police Station.

Meeta Singh of Jogi Mohalla in Malout, Sri Mukatsar Sahib, reportedly informed the police that he was a driver for Sunil Kumar Midda transport. This information was provided by Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. He added that six days before, in Bikaner, Rajasthan, he and conductor Rana Singh loaded 600 bags with 300 quintals of black chickpeas and proceeded towards Amritsar.

“On April 15, we arrived at Prince Cold Store on Tarn Taran Road, where two trucks were waiting to be unloaded,” he said. We stopped our vehicle in an empty spot in the Kot Mit Singh area due to the heavy downpour. We both retired to bed after supper, leaving the window slightly open to allow for cross-ventilation. Tuesday morning at approximately one in the morning, five people with sharp weapons broke into the vehicle and threatened to murder us.

They proceeded to beat them inside the vehicle after starting it and driving toward the Tarn Taran-Chabal route. In Tarn Taran, they left them close to the settlement of Noordi. While one of them was following the truck in a car, the other two accomplices got out of the vehicle. After that, they handcuffed, blinded, and tossed the driver and conductor into the vehicle and drove off.

A tip concerning the vehicle and the accused’s whereabouts on the Sultanwind link road was received by the city police. Their purpose for remaining was to sell the stolen chickpeas.

Police teams were sent, according to the Commissioner of Police, and the accused was taken into custody along with the vehicle. He claimed that further inquiries were being conducted to find and apprehend their collaborators.
