Tarn Taran Diary: A multi-cornered competition is expected in Khadoor Sahib

Sahib Khadoor The next parliamentary elections are expected to feature a multi-cornered race for the Lok Sabha seat, which was formerly known as Tarn Taran. The seat is mostly rural, with few pockets for the BJP, which has also entered the polls with other parties. It was a constituency that was once represented by the SAD or the Congress. It was only represented by the Congress party until the 1977 election, which followed the lifting of the emergency.

However, the SAD won the seat from Congress in that election in a way that made it known as the “Panthic” seat, and it remained so until the 2019 election, when SAD candidates made up the majority of the candidates. In 1992, the SAD abstained from voting, and the Congress candidate went on to win. All political parties have announced their candidates for the June 1 election, which means there will be a multi-cornered struggle this time around. The election is expected to be intriguing. Jasbir Singh Dimpa, the Congress party’s current nominee, was the one holding the seat. Kulbir Singh Zira, a former MLA from the Zira Vidhan Sabha seat, has taken his position. The SAD candidate is two-time MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha. Manjit Singh and Laljit Singh Bhullar of the AAP The other prominent candidates from this area are Amritpal Singh of “Waris Punjab De,” Manna Mianwind of the BJP, and Gurdial Singh Khadoor Sahib of the CPI. Every one of these contenders has a large following in the region. Hard-core Sikh groups support Amritpal Singh, while the Congress, SAD, BJP, and CPI are mass-based parties. The candidates or those who support them have begun to engage in local activities. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also paid a visit to the area on one occasion to support the party candidate. Parties are holding meetings on street corners (Nukkad Sabha), and it seems like this is where the race will become fascinating and fierce. The election battle is expected to be exciting since prominent figures will be visiting the area in the coming days to campaign. Sikh voters are expected to be quite influential in the elections, especially those who belong to extreme Sikh groups.

The administration is prepared to guarantee voting participation.
