“Puppet of RSS”: Cong President Kharge criticizes PM Modi at Bengaluru’s R-day festivities

Mallikarjun Kharge, the National President of the Congress party, raised the Indian flag on Friday morning at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters in Bengaluru in honor of Republic Day. Along with other prominent party officials, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and DCM DK Shivakumar attended the function.

On social media earlier, Kharge wished the people a happy 75th Republic Day, saying, “On the 75th Republic Day, I extend my good wishes to all fellow citizens.” For India, 2024 is going to be a huge year. This year will determine whether we can preserve democracy and the principles of the Constitution or return to a time when not everyone is treated equally.

He attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his Republic Day address at the KPCC headquarters, branding him a “puppet of the RSS”.

“The BJP and RSS are working together to modify and distort our Constitution. The BJP is working nonstop to dismantle or undermine each of our independent entities. Our judiciary or our secularism is bearing the burden, particularly since Modi is acting like a puppet in the hands of the RSS,” he said.

We probably would not have been able to rescue democracy if our nation had not had a Constitution. The leaders of our independence movement and the members of the Constituent Assembly worked very hard to give our nation its Constitution,” he said.

“The BJP claims to be the sole hope for the nation, while the Congress party has battled for its independence. They talk about patriotism and give the impression to the younger generation that only they are real patriots and that everyone else is a traitor. These days, the Prime Minister, the BJP, and the Home Minister (Amit Shah) are working tirelessly to turn it into a puppet in their grasp. Thus, he said, “it is crucial that we protect our freedom and the Constitution for the sake of our future generations.
