Shama Mohamed, an AICC spokesman, was arrested in Kerala for using hate speech

Shama Mohamed, the spokeswoman for the AICC, has been charged with hate speech. The complaint is based on statements she made in support of M K Raghavan during an electoral campaign in Kozhikode, saying that churches and mosques would vanish if the BJP were to take back power.

A citizen of Thiruvananthapuram was offended by Shama’s comment and filed a complaint with the Kozhikode City Medical College police, alleging that Shama was trying to sow religious division.

Shama, however, stood by her remarks, claiming that they were relevant to the Manipur problem and did not target any one religious group.
