Sonepat is getting ready to debut its e-buses

The Transport Department is now getting ready to start the electric bus service in Sonepat in June, thrilled with the positive reception the program has received in Panipat, Karnal, and Yamunanagar-Jagadhari.

The state transport department plans to add electric buses to the fleet at the Sonepat Roadways Depot in an effort to reduce pollution in the NCR area. Every day, hundreds of people go by bus and rail from here to Delhi for employment.

Additionally, the NH-44’s “New Sonepat” development, which stretches from Gannaur to Kundli, has grown into a major industrial center. The Transport Department plans to start the e-city bus service in Sonepat in June in light of all these considerations.

A new location for the electric bus stop has been set by the department, and a tender has been issued to build an electric bus charging station there.

According to sources, the project’s first phase would see the introduction of five electric buses in June. The ultimate goal is to introduce fifty electric buses into the area.

The government has decided to locate the station solely for electric buses at the driving training center at Murthal Chowk on the NH-44 since the former bus stand is too crowded.

This location would make it simple for the electric buses to operate, and a dedicated charging station with ten charging outlets would be installed. The government and the private business DIIMS have partnered on this.

The project is expected to cost Rs 12 crore, and the government has also issued a tender.

Local officials have identified four routes, which have been sent to the headquarters. The sources stated that these routes – Murthal-Barhi-Ganaur, Murthal-Bahalgarh-Rai-Kundli-Singhu border, Murthal to Farmana, and Murthal to Gannaur via Shehzadpur-Sandal Kalan – will be finalized for the first phase trial after a survey of all four routes is completed.

On the condition of anonymity, a senior official said that further routes will be investigated once the electric bus service is up and running. In addition to all internal local lines, the official said that electric buses will also run on routes from Sonepat to Panipat and Delhi due to the high volume of passengers on these routes and the fact that the buses are air-conditioned, pleasant, and don’t emit any pollution.

“As instructed by headquarters, we are fully gearing up for the official debut of e-city bus services. These consist of building platforms, 300 KW power connections, transformers, and other things. A private business will build the charging station, according to Sanjay Kumar, General Manager of Roadways, Sonepat.

“People from Panipat and other cities have been responding very well to our electric buses,” said Navdeep Virk, Principal Secretary, Transport Department. The project at Sonepat is ready to get underway, and the stand for these buses is complete.
