The death of don-neta Mukhtar Ansari has prompted two inquiries

LUCKNOW: On Friday, two inquiries into the unexpected death of Mukhtar Ansari were launched, one by the judiciary and the other by the Banda district magistrate. This came a day after the gangster-turned-politician’s son, Umar, reiterated his claim that his father’s death was caused by slow poisoning and medical negligence.

In the event that a prisoner in court custody passes away in an unusual way, both investigations are routinely conducted.
Umar made his accusation on the same day that Ansari’s attorney, Randhir Singh Suman, submitted a request for the filing of a police report at the Barabanki MP/MLA court, citing Ansari’s March 21 appeal as a “dying declaration.” Ansari had claimed that when he was being held at Banda prison, he was given food that was poisoned. He had petitioned the MP/MLA court in Mau with a similar document.

Ansari said that on March 19, after supper, he became very unwell. He said that for around forty days, he was experiencing gradual poisoning, which put his health in jeopardy and endangered his life.
