Do you recall the X employee who gained notoriety for dozing off on the floor? She’s Now a Member of Meta

The woman who went viral last year in a picture of herself sleeping on the office floor at Elon Musk’s Twitter, a former top lieutenant, claims to be employed by Mark Zuckerberg at Meta. It is reported that Messenger has appointed Esther Crawford as Director of Product. After fully investing in Elon Musk’s Twitter 2.0, the former director of Twitter took a leave of absence from her position after her dismissal from the firm in February 2023. She had been reporting directly to Musk.

Esther Crawford posted on Instagram on Monday, saying, “Some personal news: I’ve joined the Messenger team at Meta as Director of Product.”

Crawford also said in her piece that, while she considered a number of excellent options, Meta was her first choice. She says she’s “obsessed” with the way people connect via technology and that Meta, which connects about 4 billion people, is the most powerful company in that space.

Crawford lauded “the extraordinary caliber of the personnel” that Meta employs and said she was drawn to Zuckerberg’s “vision and intensity.” Crawford praised the billionaire businessman, saying, “Seeing how he’s made the company more efficient and less bureaucratic in the past year makes me even more bullish to be joining now because I want to move fast and ship awesome products.”

She said that the company is amazing in so many aspects and that she is eager to learn from people who have worked here for a long time. She expressed her excitement in lending the organization her knowledge and “quirky style.” Because Meta is positioned to create the next generation of social experiences, democratize free access to AI via its app family, and let developers build on top of Llama 3, the most current open-source LLM, she says that working at the firm is “definitely a special time.”

Crawford made this declaration a little more than a year after quitting X. After Twitter acquired her firm, Squad, which offered video chat, she joined the platform in December 2020.

It was discovered that Crawford was one of Elon Musk’s closest associates when he took over the company in October 2022. Crawford gained notoriety for taking over Twitter Blue, a membership service, but also for openly endorsing Musk’s strict work culture.

After sharing a since-deleted image of herself dozing off inside Twitter’s headquarters, Crawford tweeted in November 2022, “When your team is pushing round the clock to make deadlines, sometimes you #SleepWhereYouWork.”

Crawford survived Twitter’s first three waves of layoffs, but he was fired in February 2023.
