The installation of the Ram Lalla idol in January 2024

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced that on Makar Sankranti in January 2024, the idol of Ram Lalla would be erected in the recently built temple in Ayodhya.

According to Champat Rai, general secretary of the Trust, the festival would go for a long time and start with Deepotsav this year on the night of Diwali.

The Ram temple was scheduled to be opened to visitors on December 31 by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. However, the Trust asserts that there are no auspicious days for installing the statue in December.

According to the Hindu calendar, rituals may only be performed beginning with Makar Sankranti when the Sun crosses over from the southern to the northern hemisphere, according to the Trust.

Champat Rai said that “Makar Sankranti is the most auspicious day for installing the Ram Lalla idol.”

The Trust has always claimed that the Ram temple’s construction would be completed by December 2023, at which point great festivities will begin and last until Makar Sankranti in January 2024.

In the past, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust wrote Prime Minister Narendra Modi a letter inviting him attend the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

On August 5, 2020, Modi presided over the “bhoomi pujan” of the Ram temple at Ayodhya.

At the moment, Ram Lalla is worshipped in a prefabricated temple that was erected at Ram Janmabhoomi prior to the start of the Ram temple’s construction.

Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, Mahant Nritya Gopal’s chosen successor, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had received a letter from the Trust’s chairman, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, inviting him to the sanctum-sanctorum of the Ram temple for the “pran pratishtha” (idol consecration) of Ram Lalla.

The letter would most likely be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi by Nripendra Misra, the head of the Ram Mandir Construction Committee.
