YSR Telangana Party will not run in the assembly elections on November 30

YSR Telangana Party President Y S Sharmila said on Friday that the party will back the opposition Congress and not run in the state’s assembly elections on November 30.

Sharmila, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s daughter as chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, declared her support for the Congress in their effort to overthrow the “corrupt and anti-people rule” of BRS, which is headed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

When a state regime change is possible, she said that she would prefer not to act as a barrier by dividing the anti-government votes.

Sharmila said that she does not want to divide Congress’s votes in a way that would help the governing BRS and that she has the utmost respect for Congress leaders and activists.

Speaking to reporters here, the YSRTP president said that her late father Rajasekhara Reddy was the driving force behind the Congress party’s rise to power in Andhra Pradesh.

“In Karnataka, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘padayatra’ yielded results after a long period of time.” We do not want to do harm to the Congress when the results are out in Telangana. She stated she does not see the leaders of the Congress as foreigners.

She added that Rajasekhara Reddy’s daughter received a great deal of attention from prominent Congressmen Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

She said, “We have no desire to harm the Congress party or its leaders.”

She expressed worry that if she divides the Congress vote and Chandrasekhar Rao is appointed chief minister once again, “history may not forgive her.”

Sharmila had previously discussed merger or a pre-election partnership with the Congress high leadership, but nothing came of it.
