The Supreme Court confirms the repeal of Article 370: See How Politicians Reacted To This Historic Order, Including PM Modi

The Supreme Court of India today affirmed the Union Government’s decision to revoke Article 370, four years after Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was eliminated. It did state, however, that no decision made by the Center on behalf of a State may be challenged in court. Additionally, the top court ordered the Poll Commission of India to schedule a state assembly poll on September 30, 2024.

The political community responded to the decree in a variety of ways. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Supreme Court’s decision to revoke Article 370 is historic and constitutionally supports the decision made by the Indian Parliament on August 5, 2019.

“For our brothers and sisters in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, it is an overwhelming proclamation of optimism, advancement, and unification. Regarding X, PM Modi said, “The Court, in its deep wisdom, has strengthened the very essence of unity that we, as Indians, hold dear and cherish above all else.”

He went on, “I want to reassure the strong people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh that we will always be committed to helping you realize your aspirations. We are committed to making sure that the advantages of growth spread not just to you but also to the most marginalized and disadvantaged groups in our society who were negatively impacted by Article 370.”

According to Prime Minister Modi, the ruling is not just a legal ruling but also a ray of optimism, a guarantee of a better future, and evidence of the government’s shared will to create a more powerful, unified India.

“Disappointed but not disheartened,” said the former chief minister and leader of the Jammu Kashmir National Conference. The battle will go on. The BJP needed decades to get to this point. We’re ready for the long haul as well.”

“We welcome the decision but the things like rehabilitation of Hindus, putting an end to terrorism, making the people of J&K join mainstream have not happened yet…” Arvind Sawant, a member of the Shiv Sena

President of the BJP JP Nadda praised the choice as well. “The Bharatiya Janata Party is pleased with the Supreme Court’s ruling on Article 370. The Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench has supported the decision to eliminate Sections 370 and 35A, as well as the reasoning behind it. Jammu & Kashmir has been historically included in the national ideology by the administration of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For this, lakhs of our employees and I am very grateful to the Prime Minister.”

Karan Singh, a Congress politician and the son of Maharaja Hari Singh, urged people who were disappointed with the verdict to realize that it was inevitable and that the matter had finally been resolved. “Since the Supreme Court has affirmed the action, there’s no need to keep banging your head against the wall. I now propose that they focus their efforts on contesting the next elections. That’s where people need to be today, he remarked, rather than being pessimistic.
