TMC manifesto pledges to regulate gasoline costs and remove the CAA and NRC

In its Lok Sabha election platform, the TMC pledged on Wednesday to implement a number of social welfare programs and to abolish the CAA in the event that the opposition INDIA group won the majority at the Centre.

Derek O’Brien, the leader of the TMC’s Rajya Sabha party, unveiled the manifesto at the party’s Kolkata headquarters. He said, “These are the promises which we will fulfil as part of the INDIA bloc when it forms the next government.” We commit to regulating the cost of gasoline and diesel by creating a price stabilization fund. We also pledge to revoke the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and put an end to the nation’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) program.

In addition, the party pledged to provide BPL households ten free cooking cylinders and rations at their doorsteps.

Due to differences over seat sharing with the Congress in Bengal, the TMC left the INDIA group in January. At the national level, the party headed by Mamata Banerjee has said that it still belongs to the INDIA bloc.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated on Wednesday that if the opposition INDIA alliance gains government at the Center, the CAA and NRC would be eliminated, accusing the BJP of turning the whole nation into a “detention camp.”

Speaking at an election rally in Silchar, Assam, in favor of four TMC candidates, she said that should Prime Minister Narendra Modi win a third term in office, democracy and elections will cease to exist.

The BJP turned the whole nation into a prison camp. This election carries a great deal of risk. Mamata said, “I have never seen an election this scary in my life.

She said that during her activism in West Bengal in behalf of Bengali people in the two states, her Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma filed many police cases.

“What did I do wrong? Will you lock me up, execute me, or send me to a camp for detention? I was there to advocate for the people when 17 lakh Bengali Assamese were omitted from the NRC out of a total of 19 lakh, the woman said.

She said that her group was against religious division and that they supported all faiths.

“The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Uniform Civil Code, and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will not exist if the INDIA group prevails. All laws that discriminate will be repealed. There would be no elections or democracy if Modi is elected again. She said during the gathering that “the entire country will be sold off.”
