Yakshagana is used by Udupi authorities to encourage people to cast ballots

In an effort to increase voter awareness, IAS, IPS, and KAS officials from the Udupi district dressed as Yakshagana performers and put on a presentation about the significance of the ballot. These officers are really getting into the voting mood.

In order to guarantee a high turnout in the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency on April 26 and the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency on May 7 (the Byndoor assembly segment of Udupi district is part of Shivamogga LS seat), voter awareness campaigns are underway across the region.

The Yakshagana performance was one of the intriguing projects undertaken by the Udupi district SVEEP committee, which is led by ZP CEO Prateek Bayal. For almost five hours, the folk artists’ costumes and greasepaint were exchanged for the uniforms and formal attire of Prateek Bayal, Kundapur AC Rashmi, Udupi ADC Mamatha Devi G S, and Coastal Security Police (CSP) SP Mithun H N.

Since it was their first time wearing the outfit, the police found the procedure to be rather enjoyable. They attended a basic training course on maintaining proper posture while wearing a Yakshagana outfit. While women officials Rashmi and Mamatha Devi dressed as ladies, Prateek Bayal and Mithun H N wore costumes in the Badaguthittu tradition.

Additionally, they provided the voiceover for a little film that emphasized the significance of voting.

The representatives came to Kaup Light House and gave a voting program. Narasimha Tunga, a Yakshagana performer, joined the authorities on stage for the video.
