YSRC wants to hold onto all seven Palnadu Assembly seats in the 2024 AP elections

For the second time in a row, the governing YSRC is working hard to hold onto all seven Assembly constituencies in the Palnadu district, while the opposition TDP is doing all in its power to reclaim its former glory.

Palnadu has seven Assembly seats total after district reorganization: Pedakurapadu, Chilakaluripet, Narasaraopet, Sattenapalli, Vinukonda, Gurajala, and Macherla. Since it was able to secure the votes of minorities who had previously backed the Congress, the YSRC has maintained a stranglehold over Palnadu, an area that has been stagnant for a number of years.

With a few exceptions, the TDP has renominated most of the candidates after losing all seven Assembly districts. In Pedakurappadu and Sattenapalli, the party has put forward realtor Bhashyam Praveen and Kanna Lakshminarayana.

By putting Guntur Mayor and Kapu leader Kavati Manohar Naidu up against TDP leader Prathipati Pullarao in Chilakaluripet, the YSRC has also made a few adjustments. Vidadala Rajini, the Health Minister and sitting MLA for Chilakaluripet, has been moved to Guntur West.

TDP’s Chadalavada Arvind Babu is running in Narasaraopet against Dr. Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy, the leader of the YSRC and a two-term MLA, while TDP district in-charge GV Anjaneyulu is taking against the incumbent MLA Bolla Brahma Naidu in Vinukonda.

TDP leader Julakanit Brahmananda Reddy is battling Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, a five-time MLA, in Macherla. Political tensions are high in Gurazala as TDP’s Yarapatineni Srinivasa Rao and YSRC MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy engage in a back-and-forth over accusations of corruption.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and YSRC president and chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy have both visited the area and attended public gatherings in the last few days.
