Before the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma made a major announcement: “MS Dhoni Will Be Coming to the USA.”

Even though MS Dhoni has officially retired from international cricket, if you’re watching IPL 2024 and the great man is teasing his fans with little cameos, you probably secretly want to see MSD play for India one more time. And with the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies only a few months away (in June), is it feasible that the unthinkable will occur? The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, is attempting to persuade Dhoni, but he most likely already knows the answer.

Sharma said that it will be difficult to persuade Dhoni to go to the West Indies, but he will be in the USA, when discussing the T20 World Cup and squad selection on the Club Prairie Fire podcast with Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan.

“I suppose it will be difficult to get MSD to visit the West Indies. He’s weary and unwell, I guess. But he’s not really visiting the US for that purpose. “I assume he’s coming to play golf since he’s into it now,” Sharma remarked in response to Gilchrist’s suggestion that MSD and Dinesh Karthik be considered for the T20 World Cup.

Sharma praised Dhoni’s 20-run performance in 4 balls against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, claiming it was the game-winning effort. MI lost the game against CSK by a score of 20 runs.

India’s World Cup T20 roster: Most recent: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to open? Yashasvi Jaiswal may not make it, but Riyan Parag is in contention.

“Dhoni arrived to bat for four balls, had a significant impact, scored those 20–22 runs, and that ultimately proved to be the difference,” Sharma said.

Sharma made an intriguing remark on Karthik’s chances of making the team. Sharma was only caught kidding Karthik about the T20 World Cup place during Mumbai Indians vs. Royal Challengers Bengaluru last week. A few days later, Sharma speculated that it could be simpler to persuade the wicketkeeper-batter to participate in the T20 World Cup than Dhoni, after DK’s spectacular effort against SRH, in which he smashed 85 off only 35 deliveries.

India’s T20 World Cup Selection Conundrum: Skip Rinku Singh or Shivam Dube in favor of Boosting the Top-order with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal?

“I’m pretty impressed, especially with Dinesh, and the way he batted a few nights ago,” Sharma said, before going on to say, “Yeah, DK will be easy to convince, I guess.”
