Hathurusingha said to reporters, “I will have a one-on-one chat if I see any action of complacency.”

He said, “We have to start from zero again.” “We are trying to start this game like we started the Sylhet game — the same anxiety, intensity, hope, and aims.”

After placing last in the previous two cycles of the World Test Championship, Bangladesh’s victory in the inaugural Test enabled them to get off to a winning start in the current cycle.

According to Hathurusingha, Bangladesh should aim to win every game at home in the next cycle before focusing on winning away from home.

“Our young players are capable of playing in any conditions,” he said.

Tim Southee, the captain of New Zealand, predicted that both teams would use spin to their advantage in the second Test.

Southee told reporters, “I think you come to this part of the world, you expect the spinners to play a big role.”

“We saw that in the first Test match, and we’re expecting similar in the second Test”.

In the previous 12 Test matches played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh has won seven of them, one against each of Australia and England.

Since their 2008 victory in Chittagong by three wickets, the Kiwis have not won a Test match in Bangladesh.

Before the team collapsed to loss in the first Test of this series, their following three Tests finished in draws.

In the ODI portion of this trip, which was held before of the ODI World Cup in nearby India, New Zealand ended their 15-year drought for a series win in the nation by defeating Bangladesh 2-0.
