Deodhar Trophy: West Zone defeats North Zone by six wickets thanks to Shivam Dube

In a round-robin encounter of the Deodhar trophy played here on Sunday, brisk all-rounder Shivam Dube went on a six-hitting rampage as West Zone recorded a comfortable six-wicket victory against North Zone.

In addition to blasting three fours and five balls into the stands in an unbroken 78-ball 83, the left-handed hitter for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL helped West Zone reach their goal of 260 in 48.5 balls.

After Harvik Desai (56) laid the groundwork with a magnificent fifty at the top, Dube and Kathan Patel (63) had an unbreakable 138-run combination for the fifth wicket to finish the job.

Himanshu Rana (54), Nitish Rana (54), and Shubham Rohilla (56), who chose to bat, helped North Zone produce a respectable 259 for six, but it was ultimately insufficient.

Shams Mulani (3/29) had the best bowling figures for West Zone, while RS Hangargekar (1/43), Sarfaraz Khan (1/17) and Rahul Tripathi (1/26) also each claimed one wicket.

North Zone got one wicket apiece from Rishi Dhawan (1/30), Mayank Yadav (1/39) and Nitish Rana (1/46).

West Zone is ranked third with 12 points after three victories in four games, while North Zone is ranked fifth with one victory in four contests.

A quick breakdown of the scores is as follows: North Zone: 259 for six in 50 overs (S Rohilla 56, Nitish Rana 54, and H Rana 54; Shams Muani 3/29). West Zone: 260 for 4 in 48.5 overs (Rishi Dhawan 1/30; Shivam Dube 83; Kathan Patel 63).
