Due to the “horrible heat,” the first MotoGP race in India will be cut short by three laps

The race will be cut short by three laps, according to the competition’s organizers, since drivers requested it after complaining about the “horrible heat” at the Buddh International Circuit.

On the suburbs of India’s capital city of New Delhi, which had previously hosted Formula One for three seasons until 2013, the 13th of the 20 overall MotoGP races in the current season is now taking place.

However, following Friday’s two practice sessions, notable riders, including world champion Francesco Bagnaia, criticized the conditions.

On the back straight, you can feel your throat burning, the Ducati racer informed reporters. “Your legs are burning, and your throat is burning.”

It’s terrible, said Aprilia rider Raul Fernandez. I’m sorry, but it’s awful. On a bike, it is impossible to imagine.

He said it would be “difficult to manage” the race. However, I believe that we are highly professional, thus we must attempt our very best without thinking about it.

The race will be cut shorter, according to the organizers.

“Riders have requested that race distances be adjusted after gaining first-hand experience in the hot and muggy conditions, both of which are expected to persist,” a MotoGP statement said.

It was noted that the MotoGP Grand Prix will be reduced from 24 to 21 laps “following their feedback and that of official tyre suppliers” and that the Sprint, Moto2 and Moto3 races would all be trimmed by one lap.

The Buddh circuit’s safety had been questioned before to the race, with specific worries regarding barriers being too near to the surface.

On Saturday morning, following their free practice session, riders were seen enjoying beverages as the temperature in Greater Noida rose to 31 degrees C (87.8 F).

The quickest time on Friday came from Italy’s Luca Marini, who completed a spectacular last lap in one minute, 44.782 seconds, only 0.008 seconds faster than Jorge Martin.
