In the fifth Twenty20 International, Axar Patel outperformed Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah with a brilliant performance

In white-ball cricket, Axar Patel has always shown his mettle. He repeated the feat against Australia, particularly in the last two Twenty20 Internationals of the five-match series. Because of his all-around abilities, he was named player of the match in both T20Is, increasing his total of these honors to five T20Is.

In the shortest format, the left-arm spinner now has the fifth-most Man of the Match accolades for India. With 15 MOM awards, Virat Kohli tops the list, followed by Rohit Sharma (12) and Suryakumar Yadav (13). Having won it seven times in his remarkable career, Yuvraj Singh is ranked fourth.

Axar Patel, meanwhile, leads all Indian bowlers in terms of most player of the match accolades in Twenty20 international matches. Prior to that, he was on a par with four-time winners Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

But in only two games, the cricketer from Gujarat who trailed them all before to the fourth Twenty20 International match against Australia, passed them. For the uninitiated, Axar Patel made a comeback in the fourth Twenty20 International, finishing with numbers of 3/16 as India successfully defended 174 runs. In the fifth and final match of the series, however, the left-hander hammered 31 off 21 deliveries before bowling a sparse session of 1/14 in four overs. He took six wickets in the series overall, four of which came in the last two games.
