James Maddison, an English midfielder, signs a 5-year agreement with Tottenham after leaving Leicester

James Maddison, an English midfielder, has been acquired by Tottenham from Leicester.

Spurs began advanced negotiations with the freshly relegated Foxes earlier this week, and Maddison was eventually acquired at a price of $40 million plus add-ons.

Maddison has signed a five-year contract with the team and is the third player Ange Postecoglou has brought in this summer.

For Spurs, who have long admired the 26-year-old talent, the acquisition of Maddison will be a big victory.

With Leicester, who won the FA Cup in 2021, Maddison played in 203 games, scored 55 goals, and provided 41 assists during the course of five mainly fruitful seasons.

While Maddison was unable to save Leicester from being unexpectedly relegated to the second division, he was still managed to score ten goals.

Due to their struggle for survival, Leicester turned down bids for Maddison in the January transfer window, but they have now decided to let him go.

Since Christian Eriksen departed the Spurs in 2020, the team has been without a player in Maddison’s mould. Maddison’s inventiveness and adaptability will help the team.

His arrival brings to an end a hectic two weeks for Tottenham, during which time Dejan Kulusevski’s loan transfer from Juventus was made permanent and goalie Guglielmo Vicario was acquired from Empoli.

Harry Kane’s future is still a subject of speculation, with Bayern Munich allegedly prepared to make an offer for Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer.
