Priyanka Gandhi claims that under the PM Modi government, “British Raj-Like Conditions” are prevalent in India

Priyanka Gandhi, a prominent member of the Congress party, delivered a severe indictment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration, charging it with sustaining “British Raj-like conditions” across the nation. Gandhi pointed out that there is a clear benefit mismatch between the policies of the government and the interests of billionaires.

“Conditions akin to the British Raj are widespread throughout the nation. The Modi government’s policies are designed to enrich millionaires rather than help the underprivileged. Speaking to Congress supporters in the Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh, where her brother and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is running, Priyanka Gandhi said on Tuesday, “International reports show that the condition of inequality in India today is worse than British rule.”

“Every institution that supports democracy is under attack, including the Parliament and the media. Little did Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru realize that one day, in an independent India, the government would be determined to deny the people their rights. They had battled the British to uphold the rights of the people, she said.

Priyanka Gandhi went on to say that there are efforts to change the Constitution, which has clauses like reservation that have improved millions of people’s lives. She bemoaned what she called the sad situation in which the person sitting in the prime minister’s chair uses words, acts, and demeanor that she found to be subpar.

Elections in the Raebareli constituency are set for May 20. With 534,918 votes, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi won the seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. With 367,740 votes, her primary opponent, Dinesh Pratap Singh, mounted a formidable battle.
