MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are mentioned by Shakib Al Hasan in his vicious attack on Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal was criticized by Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan for reportedly ignoring advice to bat lower in the order and putting personal interests before of team goals. Tamim was not selected for the 15-man Bangladeshi team for the ICC ODI World Cup in India.

Tamim has been dealing with a back issue for some months, which has caused him to alternate between being in and out of the Bangladeshi team.

According to reports, the seasoned batter has been benched because of his shaky fitness, but Tamim said in a video posted on Facebook on Wednesday that he has enough time to improve before the World Cup.

According to sources, a senior member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requested that Tamim bat lower in the order.

According to Shakib, “I am sure someone who is authorized had said this (to Tamim),” according to ESPNCricinfo. “I’m certain that whomever said that had the team in mind. A match’s combination is created using a variety of factors. Was it improper for someone to say this to him, then? Or is such a suggestion not possible? Simply put, I’m going to say to someone, “Do whatever you want.” Is the team or the individual put first?

Shakib then used India captain Rohit Sharma as an example, who started out as a lower-order batsman before becoming an opener.

“Someone like Rohit Sharma developed his career from opener to No. 7, scoring more than 10,000 runs. Would it be a major issue if he sometimes bats at No. 3 or No. 4? It is just silly. I’ll play since it’s my bat. Nobody else is able to play. For the team, a player should bat at any position. group first. Whether you have made 100 or 200, it makes little difference if the team loses. What are some uses for personal success? You wish to establish your name? said Shakib.

He continued by saying Tamim’s response reeked of selfishness.

“You are not at all considering the team. These things are not understood by people. Why was he presented with the proposal? For the team, that is. Why is it a problem? When you accept such a proposition, you are a team player. You are not a team player until you are thinking along those lines. You compete for your own records, achievement, notoriety, and reputation. For the team, no,” replied Shakib.

Shakib then remembered MS Dhoni’s remark that a player who isn’t fit for duty is “cheating his team” by participating in the setup.

“I didn’t bring up the matter with the specific player, the medical staff, or the selector. The board has unquestionably made its judgment. However, someone like MS Dhoni, who has won everything and has the knowledge and common sense, once remarked that the unfit player who is playing is deceiving his team and nation. People may have doubts about my skill or potential. I believe we should face the fact that every player must be in peak physical condition, not only Tamim.

According to Shakib, it was challenging to choose Tamim because of the ambiguity surrounding his availability.

“Kane Williamson won’t participate in the first two games, but he will begin after that. I wouldn’t have any issues if I had this knowledge. It will be difficult for me to choose the team if I am confused about whether he will play in the seventh, third, or first game, or if I will only find out the morning of the game. We don’t need a player like him, in my opinion, Shakib stated.

“I’ve heard he plays selectively, for sure. An hour before he plans to be at work, a journalist can’t truly promise to be there. If I were the CEO of the firm, I wouldn’t retain that employee, if you ask me. Despite the fact that I never spoke with anybody about this, he continued.
