“Not Sure What Will Happen…Looking Ahead”: Varun Aaron on the Kohli-Gambhir Rivalry Prior to RCB vs. KKR

The thrilling match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru has an abundance of historical background. The rivalry between the two teams has never wavered, from Andre Russell’s 48* to Brendon McCullum’s illustrious 158*.

Among all of them, the intense rivalry between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir has been one of the most notable. Now, since one is presently a coach and the other is an ex-skipper, it’s time for the two to square off once again.

Former Indian cricketer Varun Aaron is one of the many people who are excited about the match.

Aaron, a former RCB player, discussed the rivalry and how fired up Virat Kohli will be for the encounter with KKR.

“I’m excited to see the game take place across the boundary line. Aaron stated exclusively to Star Sports on Cricket Live, “I don’t know what’s going to happen there, but I think, you know how Virat is, he likes to have some fire all the time, and if he just looks at the KKR dugout, he’s just going to be fired up. Gautam Gambhir is going to be at the boundary line right beside the RCB dugout.

The now-famous rivalry began in Bengaluru in 2013 when Gambhir and Kohli sparred vocally before emotions erupted to the point that Rajat Bhatia had to physically separate the players.

Then some time went by. However, one of the two would rekindle their emotions three years later. It was Yusuf Pathan and Andre Russell who performed all the grunt work out on the crease in KKR’s exciting come-from-behind victory. Gambhir was fined 15% of his match fee for kicking a chair in the dugout as a consequence of expressing his emotions.

However, the most recent occurrence occurred just last season when the two squared off during RCB’s match against Gambhir’s LSG, providing them with another chance to engage in a furious altercation.

What will be the next development in the rivalry? As RCB and KKR play in Bengaluru today, we may have the chance to see it all.
