Pollard stands up for Hardik Pandya, saying he is “sick & fed up” with people blaming certain players for his team’s defeats

Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard asked supporters not to “nitpick” struggling captain Hardik Pandya after MI fell to Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs in their Indian Premier League match today, saying he is “sick and fed up” with people blaming specific persons for the team’s defeats.

With three straight sixes, CSK icon MS Dhoni grabbed 26 runs off Pandya’s penultimate over as the MI captain battled to bowl with the appropriate line and length and also bowled two wides at a critical juncture.

Pandya struggled at the bat, scoring only two runs off six balls at a critical moment in the game, and ended up with statistics of 2 for 43 from his four overs.

There will be days like that for you. I’m tired of focusing just on identifying certain people. At the end of the day, cricket is a team sport, Pollard said during the Sunday night news conference after the game.

“Pandya is a self-assured individual. He’s been excellent with the group. There are bright days and terrible days in cricket. I’m seeing a person who is putting in a ton of effort to advance in his career.

Pollard informed supporters that Pandya may be chosen for India’s T20 World Cup campaign, adding that everyone would be “singing his praises” if it happened.

“In less than six weeks, this person will represent the nation,” the speaker said. The West Indian, who is also a legend in Michigan, added, “We’re all going to be rooting for him and wanting him to succeed.”

It’s past time we made an effort to support and discourage nitpicking. Try to get the maximum performance from one of the greatest all-round players India has ever produced.

He is a proficient batter, bowler, and fielder. There’s something special about him. Deep down in my heart, I really hope that if he wins, I can just relax and listen to everyone laud him.

Pandya, who battled with the bat and the ball during the match, was booed at times. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen also expressed his disapproval, saying the MI captain had been “smiling too much.”

Pollard affirmed his belief in Pandya’s ability to change and stated he is witnessing progress from him.

“You also need to change as a person. When you’re young and full of that carefree spirit, you go out and behave a particular way. However, as one ages, accountability to teams and duty may often become more pressing issues, he said.

I’m seeing a man who is changing. Of course, as individuals, we have preferences, but sometimes the game does not meet our needs.

Pollard said that the Mumbai Indians will review their preparations about Dhoni, but he also mentioned that anybody might have been the victim of the former captain of CSK’s assault, as Pandya was on Sunday night.

Yes, there were three sixes, twenty runs, and a few more runs in the last over, but anybody might have scored twenty runs in the final over. For years and years, MS has been at the top of the game. We like seeing him enter stadiums while playing cricket. We’re all amazed at what he’s managed to do.

The difference is in the scoreline (20 runs). But cricket is much more than what the last scene depicts. It goes far deeper than that for us. We’re going to analyze, like we have in the past, throughout the competition, do our assignments, and continue to improve as a unit, according to Pollard.

“You have plans of how you want to bowl to them, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and so on. You go back and you look to see if it was executed or not,” he said.
