Rayudu explains the motivation behind Dhoni’s gesture of raising a giant “IPL Trophy”: “He called Jadeja and me”

In a dramatic match in Ahmedabad on Monday night, the Chennai Super Kings defeated the 2022 champion Gujarat Titans to claim their fifth Indian Premier League championship, tying their previous record. Ravindra Jadeja smashed a four when the team needed one to win the game on the very last ball, giving the team the victory. After Mohit Sharma, the Titans bowler, only gave up three runs off the first four deliveries, the CSK needed 10 runs off the last two deliveries to win the match. Jadeja, on the other hand, hit a six off the sixth ball before elegantly concluding the match with a four to fine leg.

Devon Conway (47) built the groundwork for CSK’s victory at the outset, and Ambati Rayudu added to it by making a memorable cameo in his last IPL innings. The game was cut short to 15 overs owing to rain, but Rayudu only remained at the crease for 8 deliveries while scoring a crucial 19 runs for the team. Before leaving the pitch two overs later, Rayudu hit a four and two sixes throughout his knock.

After the victory, CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a kind gesture for Jadeja and Rayudu by asking both players to join him in accepting the IPL trophy at the post-game presentation ceremony. Finally, Rayudu has explained the motivation behind Dhoni’s action.

He phoned Jaddu and I before the event to ask whether we would help him raise the prize. He believes that doing it with both of us at that time was appropriate. He did something incredibly unique, I don’t believe that has ever occurred. He is known to the globe as the guy who fits that description. Overall, Rayudu told NDTV, that was his gesture.

Following the game, CSK’s head coach Stephen Fleming emphasised the value of Rayudu’s performance and noted that the team would miss the seasoned Indian batter.

“Ambati Rayudu is unquestionably a legend. I think highly of him as a batsman, and today’s three balls against Mohit Sharma showed him up against one of the bowlers who is now in the best form. To strike him for 6, 4, and 6 was really refined.

“Rayudu will undoubtedly leave a gap in the game, but play continues. Doe’s it not? We anticipated that his sudden passing would be quite upsetting for both the group and him, Fleming had stated.
