Shah Rukh Khan’s inspirational speech in the KKR dressing room, “We Didn’t Deserve To Lose,” goes viral

Shah Rukh Khan, a Bollywood actor and co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, gave Shreyas Iyer and company some advice following their Tuesday night loss to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by two wickets. They managed to put up a massive 223 runs on the board, but ultimately lost the match as Jos Buttler’s heroics enabled the Royals to record the most successful chase in IPL history.

After an outstanding display at bat, the Knight Riders found it difficult to accept the outcome. After Sunil Narine scored his first IPL century, Rinku Singh’s cameo easily saw them beyond the 200-run barrier. But the genius of Buttler eclipsed all the attempts.

The team owner decided to give them a motivating speech after Iyer and his players were demoralized by the loss. The Bollywood superstar made his presence known in the locker room by encouraging the team to keep going even after they lost the match, despite playing some beautiful football.

“There are times in our lives, particularly in sports, when we shouldn’t lose. Additionally, there are days when we don’t deserve to succeed. We didn’t deserve to lose today. We all performed really well.

“I believe that everyone is connecting with one another, and we have wonderful energy both on the field and here individually. To be honest, I’m very happy of the way we all played today,” he said.

Earlier, Narine scored 109 runs in 56 balls, smashing 13 fours and six maximums, to lead the KKR innings. Before Rinku Singh struck a 9-ball 20 near the conclusion of the half, Angkrish Raghuvanshi contributed another 30 runs.

The Royals, in response, got off to a fast start in their chase but were reduced to 121/6 after only 12.2 overs. At that point, Jos Buttler came through for the team with a spectacular hit to start the inning. In only 60 balls, he scored an undefeated 107 to end Rajasthan’s pursuit. Nine boundaries and six sixes were part of his innings. He had already scored a century against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, therefore, this was his second century of the current IPL season.

After losing to the top-ranked Rajasthan Royals, the Kolkata Knight Riders are still in second place in the rankings. This next weekend, on April 21, they will take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, captained by Faf du Plessis, at Eden Gardens.
