Shreyas Iyer was fined Rs 12 lakh for the first instance of sluggish overrate

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has been fined Rs 12 lakh for playing with a sluggish over-rate during their IPL match against the Rajasthan Royals.

Jos Buttler struck an undefeated 107 from 60 balls, but KKR fell to the Royals here on Tuesday by a margin of two wickets.

“Iyer was fined Rs 12 lakhs, as it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences,” the IPL said in a statement.

While KKR lost their second defeat in six games, it was the Royals’ sixth victory in seven games.
